Ours is a potato chip dusted with cinnamon and sugar — a churro in chip form. Here is how we bring the flavor of a churro to a potato chip.
The idea nobody asked for
Sweet potato chips exist. Dessert-flavored snacks exist. But a churro chip — golden, buttery, dusted with real cinnamon sugar — starts with the buttery flavor of our grass-fed ghee.
A churro works because it's fried dough with a buttery backbone — the fat is half the flavor. Dust cinnamon sugar on a chip fried in neutral canola and you get sweetness sitting on top of nothing. The magic of a churro is the pairing: warm spice and sugar melting into something rich underneath.
We happened to have that something. Every Ghips chip is fried in 100% grass-fed ghee — clarified butter with a deep, golden, nutty flavor. The ghee doesn't just cook the potato; it gives the cinnamon sugar something to belong to. That combination inspired our Churro flavor.
Getting the details right
A dessert chip lives or dies on its toppings, so we were picky:
Ceylon cinnamon — sometimes called "true cinnamon" — instead of the harsher cassia variety that dominates grocery shelves. Ceylon is softer, sweeter, more fragrant; it tastes like a bakery, not a candle.
Organic real sugar, in a restrained dusting. The goal was never candy. It's the balance a churro cart gets right: sweet enough to feel like a treat, salty and savory enough underneath that you keep going back.
And under it all, the same foundation as everything we make: USDA certified organic potatoes, fried in grass-fed ghee, in small batches. An ingredient list you can read aloud without taking a breath.
What happened next
We launched Churro quietly as our third flavor, expecting a fun side character next to Sea Salt Original and Black Truffle.
